The team is developing a research program that focuses on the following main areas:
The incessant increase in the volume and the damaging nature of waste have become major concerns of environmental policy and the fight to improve our living environment. Unless there is an in-depth review of our lifestyles, we expose ourselves to dramatic and irreversible degradation of the environment through waste. Current lifestyles suggest that the volume of household waste will continue to increase at least for a few more years. Thus, estimates currently show an increase of 1 to 3% (estimate varying depending on sources) per year for this family of waste. In the industrial sector, on the other hand, the trend seems to be towards stagnation or even decline due to the increasingly frequent use of regeneration, recovery and recycling processes. The aim of our team's work is to find scientific solutions to give a second life to solid waste either through their transformation into new products, or through their use as supplements or additives in pure products after their treatment.
